Meet the Visionary Behind Fee Only Hourly Financial Planning
|
Sheryl Garrett, CFP®, AIF® has served as a tireless author and advocate for individual investors, for financial literacy and industry reform for over twenty years. It was Sheryl who first pioneered the Fee Only hourly financial planning model, calling for the financial services industry to do better, to provide unbiased, competent, objective financial advice. The idea behind Sheryl's vision was to shift the focus away from advisors simply gathering and managing assets, to encourage advisors to broaden their focus, to address a wider range of critical financial planning issues, and build plans that clients could own and implement for themselves.
Ms. Garrett has served as an expert industry witness and has testified before Congress and the House Subcommittee on Financial Services regarding questionable or inappropriate financial practices. And in February 2015, in a speech directing the Department of Labor to support a stronger fiduciary rule to protect investors, President Obama recognized Sheryl Garrett, holding her up as a model, as an advisor who came to the profession to help people and place clients’ interests first. Sheryl has been featured on CNN, Bloomberg, ABCWorld News Now, Fox-TV, NPR’s All Things Considered, Marketplace, and in Business Week, Newsweek, Time, Forbes, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, Money, SmartMoney, MarketWatch, U.S. News & World Report, the New York Times, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal. |
